Diabetes and You courses are delivered by trained diabetes educators and the course is delivered over 3 x 90-minute sessions which include:

    1. Diabetes and You – this session covers what diabetes is, the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the signs, symptoms, and complications of diabetes. We also give an overview of diabetes medication as well as talking about what care to expect.
    2. Diabetes, lifestyle and you – this session looks at lifestyle changes and how they can help you better manage your diabetes. We discuss the importance of physical activity, sleep, stress and alcohol reduction and smoking cessation. We also do an introduction to healthy eating and lots of signposting to support organisations and local healthy living activities.
    3. Diabetes, food and you – in this session we discuss eating well, focussing on the different food group and which foods impact on blood glucose. We also look at food labelling, portion control and hidden sugars.
